Foster Homes Needed!

Safe Haven is in desperate need of foster homes for cats! Fostering can be such a rewarding experience for people. You are helping a homeless animal get a chance of being adopted by exposing them to your household. Many of our cats have never been in a home or haven’t been in a home for a long time and need to be acquainted with house rules and exposed to different things in a house, i.e. certain noises, maybe kids or other dogs and cats. By exposing them to these types of things we get a better idea of how they will be in a permanent home and also their likes and dislikes.

Another reason we need foster homes is to help some cats that have transmittable cat diseases such as FIP or FIV. These cats can’t be in a shelter environment because they are testing positive for these diseases and they are transmittable to other cats but are not transmittable to humans or dogs. We currently have 4 cats with FIP and 2 cats with FIV that emergently need a home. They can be together just not with other cats.

Fostering requires the foster family to provide love and daily care for the animals. Safe Haven takes care of the vet bills. They will also take care of providing food if need be.

A foster cat in your home will get chances to go to adoption days and people looking for cats will be directed to the foster homes as well. Some cats will be in your home a few days and some will be there a few months depending on the situation. Safe Haven will keep in touch with the foster families to monitor how the animal is doing in the home and to make any changes as necessary.

Currently, we have over 100 cats in our care and many have been in the shelter for many years. These cats deserve homes and are many times over looked because of their age or because we aren’t sure of how they would be in a home. Their personalities are also different in the shelter environment versus what they would be in a home environment.

If you would like to learn more about our fostering opportunity, please contact us at safehavencat@yahoo.com and a representative will contact you with more information.

Thank you.
